iOS Device Support in DeskIn: Screen Viewing & Control Options

Can You Remotely Control an iPhone or iPad with DeskIn?

No. DeskIn cannot remotely control an iPhone or iPad. Apple's iOS blocks all third-party apps from full remote control — touch, swipe, and gesture input on a remote iOS device are not permitted by the operating system. DeskIn can mirror (view) the iOS screen in limited scenarios, and an iPhone or iPad can act as the controller that operates a remote Windows, Mac, or Android device.

This applies to every third-party remote support tool.

What Can DeskIn do with an iPhone or iPad?

DeskIn offers several ways to work with iPhone and iPad, though the level of interaction differs from other platforms due to Apple's system architecture. DeskIn supports four iOS use cases:

Here's what you can do with iOS devices in DeskIn and what to expect.

1. What You Can Do with iOS Devices

DeskIn supports the following features for iPhone and iPad:

  1. Screen Viewing (Screen Mirroring): You can view the screen of an iOS device remotely in real-time

  2. iOS as a Controller: Your iPhone or iPad can remotely control other devices including Windows, Mac, and Android devices

  3. Cross-Platform Support: Seamlessly switch between controlling different device types from your iOS device

  4. Remote Camera: View the camera screen of your remotely controlled iOS device.

2. Remote Control Limitations on iOS

DeskIn does not support full remote control of iOS devices (such as touch input, gestures, or direct interaction with the iOS screen). This means you cannot:

  1. Tap, swipe, or perform gestures on a remote iPhone/iPad

  2. Control apps or settings on the iOS device remotely

  3. Execute commands through remote touch input

Currently Apple do not permit full remote-control access. We actively monitor Apple's policy updates and developer guidelines. If Apple expands remote access capabilities to third-party applications in future iOS releases, DeskIn will implement full support promptly.

Best Practices for iOS Support

While full control isn't available, there are still effective support provided for iOS users:

  • Use Screen Viewing: Guide users through troubleshooting while viewing their screen in real-time

  • Combine with Communication: Use voice or video calls alongside screen viewing to walk users through steps

  • Leverage iOS as Controller: Have iOS users help others by controlling their Windows, Mac, or Android devices remotely

Need Help with Other Platforms?

DeskIn fully supports remote control for:

  • Android devices (with Root-free Android control add-on)

  • Windows computers

  • Mac computers
