4.9. How to Configure and Use a Graphics Tablet/Drawing Tablet

A graphics tablet (also known as a drawing tablet or pen tablet) is commonly used in design scenarios for digital painting, model creation, and more. Many tablets rely on pressure sensitivity to achieve precise strokes, known as pen pressure.

Commonly used with Photoshop (PS), ZBrush, Maya, SAI, Substance Painter, Clip Studio Paint, and other design tools. (Current supported devices are Wacom Drawing Tablets.

Note: The first-time setup requires configuration. 

  1. Install and Log into the Controller Client

    • On your home computer (controller PC, connected to the graphics tablet), install the DeskIn Enterprise Edition Controller Client and log in using the administrator-assigned DeskIn account as mentioned in Section 2.2.1.1


  1. Connect the Graphics Tablet to the Controller Computer

    • Ensure the tablet is detected and enable automatic mapping.

      • Important: If automatic mapping shows (0/0), it means your account lacks permissions. Contact the administrator to assign a High-Performance License.

  2. Select the Target Device and Start Remote Control


  1. Switch to Full-Screen Mode


  1. Enable Auto-Adapt Resolution


  1. Set to Original Scale, enable Hardware Acceleration


  1. Check Graphics Tablet Connection

  • Navigate to External Hardware > Pen Tablet re-direction

  • If the status shows "Connected", the tablet is successfully mapped.


Test Pen Pressure Sensitivity

  • On the controlled computer, open Windows 3D Paint, select the pencil tool and start drawing. 

  • If steps all work, the Graphics Tablet’s setup is complete!


Some design programs, like Photoshop, may have compatibility issues with older versions.If pen pressure is not working despite correct setup, check by the method shown in Section 7.6
